As well as my memory serves me, Music was my first passion or in better words, obsession. I have pics of me when I was 2-3 years old, holding one of those kid guitars, singing away and trying to play chords. I think I won my first talent competition at 4 years old singing "Yamma Yamma" from "Shaan" 

 

       With that context I would honestly state I like ALL kinds of music and ALL languages. My music collection is pretty extensive with music ranging from bollywood of course to celtic rock to country and in some cases songs from other countries that I just stumbled upon during my travels.

 

       Of course being a Salsa dancer, I spend a LOT of time listening to latin music but my workout playlists have a full mix of songs and genres.

 

       As I was growing up, my love for music transformed itself into experimenting with learning instruments ( guitar) and then taking up Singing. Singing started as part of a choir in my school (YUP!) and then finally ended up joining the college light music band in India and then singing freelance for a period of time for multiple local bands and then finally was part of "RaagaDhara", a light music band in Chennai for 3 years.

 

     Fast Forward to the US and during my masters in Wichita, continued singing and took up Kishore Kumar songs and classics, but soon after my masters, my singing effectively stopped as I started working.

 

 

     In 2006 I moved back to the Bay Area and joined a local Desi Rock band by the name of Sthir. We ended up working together for 4 years on an album but did not get going towards the end due to band members moving on due to life commitments as well as time commitments that were required but I could not sustain. However it was a great experience as I kept singing and it let me open up my creative side of song writing and composing as well. 

 

   I havent been singing since 2010 but music is still an ardent passion/obsession. I spend most of my time checking out new music, new playlists and thanks to spotify, itunes Radio and Pandora , have a steady flow of options and an ever growing playlist.
